Work-from-home mom and wife here—Usually found in a comfy tee, messy bun, and coffee within arm’s reach. Real life. Real house. Real tired (but in a cute way).
ONCE UPON A TIME I had a little starter home...
We moved into our forever home just three months before the world shut down. With a clean slate and a whole lot of time at home, I decided to design every space from scratch. New rooms meant new layouts to test, bold colors to try, and plenty of opportunities to mix styles and make mistakes.
So I played. I dabbled. I DIYed my heart out.
And somewhere along the way, I started sharing it all with you.
Helping you mix budget-friendly finds with a little DIY magic—and the occasional splurge.
I’m not a certified interior designer. I’m not a power tool pro. I’m not a professional painter or a wallpaper whisperer.
But one day, I decided to try anyway. All of it.
And you know what? I did it.
Did I fail along the way? Oh, for sure.
Did I give up? Not a chance.
Did I create a magazine-worthy space? Depends who you ask… but honestly, that’s not the point.
What I did do was learn, grow, build confidence, and have a heck of a lot of fun doing it.
And now? I’m obsessed with helping you do the same—one bold, budget-friendly, imperfectly perfect project at a time.

MY REALLY OFFICIAL BIO, the TL:DR VERSION
Tracy is the founder of 4009 Decorates—and a longtime graphic designer who swears she was mixing fonts and flea market finds before it was trending.
These days, she’s on a mission to help you pick up a tool, trust your taste, and create a home that feels like you.
She believes the best spaces aren’t perfect—they’re personal.
NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT STUFF
I am an introverted extrovert. There I said it.
I can make a mean Chicken Fried Steak with homemade gravy. Thanks Mimi.
I am an identical twin. She is my bestie and we talk at least twice a day and only live 15 minutes apart. #itsatwinthing
I design logos and marketing materials in between DIY projects. If you see me switching from Illustrator to a power drill mid-day… mind your business.
I still wear skinny jeans, side part my hair and unapologetically still use the thumbs up emoji. Can’t stop. Won’t stop.
Your at-a-glance guide to where I stand on all the truly important things.
