How to Host a DIY Charm Party (Even If You’re Not Crafty)

DIY charmed table decoration from glitter letters

Aug 4, 2025

You know that “how hard can it be” gene? I’ve got it. And it’s exactly why I decided to throw a charm party for some of my favorite girlfriends from church. I wanted a low-key reason to gather, have fun, and do something creative—even though most of us had zero jewelry-making experience. The trend of charm bracelets and necklaces is everywhere right now, so I thought… why not DIY our own?

Spoiler alert: It was a hit. Keep reading for everything I did to host the best DIY charm party—including how to plan it, where to find the cutest supplies, and why I highly recommend hosting one of your own.

Setting the Scene: Planning Your DIY Charm Party

I hosted the party at my home, and because I can’t resist a good DIY project, I crafted a giant decorative charm bracelet for the party setup. Here’s how I did it:

fun, motivational phrases on the table for women
  • I used a Halloween decor chain, a Styrofoam heart, and a mini wreath as the “jump ring.”
  • Spray painted it gold (with a little glitter because…obviously).
  • It made the perfect whimsical statement piece for the table.
  • For the table/setup I used a white roll of paper and covered the table in it, securing it with mailing tape on each end so it was smooth and taught.
  • Then, I used gold and silver fine point Sharpies and wrote fun, motivational phrases at each place setting for each girl to feel special and laid out the necklaces, bracelets, pliers, and little jump rings next to them. I also wrote everyone’s name in gold on a little name place cards. It was a great setup!

I sent out a digital invite via Canva about 10 days in advance—super casual, just a text to the lovely ladies I’ve grown close to at church. You can snag this invite and customize it here.

The DIY Magic: Charms + Supplies

Here’s what I sourced for our jewelry-making afternoon:

  • Charms: A mix of gold, silver, and enamel styles from Amazon and Shein.
  • Chains + Keychains: Bulk chain necklaces, bracelets, and keychain rings.
  • Mini pliers: Essential for assembling everything without frustration.
  • For a full list of all the supplies click here.

I took it a step further and hand-picked charms based on each friend’s personality, hobbies, and family life—things like books, coffee cups, animals, and even a teeny dog bowl with a bone! Each person got to create something uniquely them.

Party Atmosphere: Food, Fun, and Friendship

Most of the women made both a necklace and bracelet. In addition, a few made keychains too. Even though many had never made jewelry before, no one hesitated—they just dove in and had a blast!

We kept things easy and enjoyable:

  • I made sherbet punch and pinwheel sandwiches.
  • Guests brought their favorite snacks to share.
  • Chill music played in the background while we chatted, created and laughed.

Why I’d Do It Again (And You Should Too)

This wasn’t just about making cute jewelry (though we totally did that). It was about bringing women together—some who’d never met, others who’d never spent time like this—and watching them connect, laugh, and create.

My favorite part? Seeing every single person confidently pick out their charms and get creative. No overthinking. Just fun, joy, and a whole lot of “I’m making this for me” energy.

In fact, I would host another DIY charm party in a heartbeat. It was easy, affordable, and filled our afternoon with so much happiness. Every single guest said they had the BEST time.

Want to Host Your Own DIY Charm Party?

You don’t have to be “crafty” to pull this off—I promise. Here’s a quick-start guide:

📍 Where to host: Your home, backyard, or even a coffee shop with tables.
🎨 Supplies: Charms, chains, mini pliers, jump rings (see my LTK and Amazon storefront for links!).
🍴 Food: Keep it simple—punch, finger foods, snacks.
🎶 Vibe: Chill playlist, lots of chatting, and no pressure to “do it right.”
🎁 Pro tip: Let guests take home extra charms in mini bags or jars.
